Any educator can relate. Should I or not? There is always so much to do: plan, grade, grade and grade some more. This is MY day off from work, but I know I must share my time even though it's forced.
The decision is mine or is it? I can't help seeing those 60 some odd faces of my AP students wondering what they scored on their last timed write.
So NO, the decision is NOT ultimately MINE.
Who says educators have it "Easy"?

I really think that we don't always have the time, but we do it. Teaching is a very demanding endeavor, one not for the light of heart.
I don't! I'm a retired one!!
I'm not a teacher myself, but nearly all of my dearest friends are. It's demanding and important work and I have so much respect!
I empathise. I've been sick this week and i'm sure if I worked in any other profession that I wouldn't feel the GUILT that I do today thinking of my students and how I should be there for them!!
I know that I should just be focusing on feeling better but it's hard!!
My sister is a teacher and I respect you all so much! Especially now that I have two little ones in school. I know it's not easy, but you are appreciated:)
Ultimately, after 37 years in the classroom and loving every minute with the kids, it was this--the paperwork and the constant need to do--that drove me home for retirement. I can so relate to your post. And, I must say, that one day a week of volunteering seems to satisfy my kid fix, and then I come home to my hubby and my hobbies!
